Legend has it that Ksitigarbha vowed not to attain Buddhahood until the hells were empty, watching over beings in the underworld and guiding the departed to a peaceful place.
On the third floor of Cho Yuu Temple, Ksitigarbha watches over pets who have passed away. Light a Memorial Lamp for your pet, so they are free from pain, never lost, and happy wherever they are now.
They stayed by your side through your hardest years. Now you can pray for them.
Come up to the third floor and tell Ksitigarbha about your pet: their name, what they were like, and what you want to say to them.
Light a Memorial Lamp for your pet. If you live far away, you can light one online.
You can also donate a roof tile with your pet’s name on it, to become part of the new temple in Yilan.
Ksitigarbha’s birthday falls on the 30th day of the 7th lunar month. Whatever your pet is going through, there is a deity to talk to.
