Legend has it that Guanyin hears every cry in the world and goes wherever someone is suffering.
On the second floor of Cho Yuu Temple, people also call her the “Guanyin of Calm”. If your pet gets anxious, sleeps badly at night, or has just moved or been adopted and is still settling in, ask Guanyin to help them feel at ease. The same goes for you: you can share your worries and tiredness with Guanyin, too.
Whenever your pet feels uneasy, come up to the second floor and ask Guanyin for calm.
For pets who fear thunder or strangers, or tremble whenever they go out, ask Guanyin for calm.
If your pet sleeps badly or keeps waking at night, come up to the second floor and tell Guanyin.
If your pet has just moved or been adopted and is still settling in, ask Guanyin to help them adjust.
No incense is needed on the second floor; simply put your palms together.
Come up to the second floor and greet Guanyin: say your name, your pet’s name and where you live.
Tell her what is troubling your pet, and what is worrying you.
No incense needed. Put your palms together and make your wish sincerely.
Three days each year (lunar calendar):
The dates on the Western calendar change every year; we post a reminder in Pet Stories before each one.
Samantabhadra stands beside Guanyin. Legend has it that Samantabhadra represents practice: turning good wishes into action, one step at a time. Traditional images often show him riding a white elephant.
When you visit Guanyin on the second floor, greet Samantabhadra too. His birthday falls on the 21st day of the 2nd lunar month.
Manjushri stands beside Guanyin. Legend has it that Manjushri represents wisdom. Traditional images often show him riding a lion.
When you visit Guanyin on the second floor, greet Manjushri too. His birthday falls on the 4th day of the 4th lunar month.
Whatever your pet is going through, there is a deity to talk to.
