Our Deities, Floor by Floor

Our deities are on the first to third floors; pray from the first floor upwards. Tap a deity’s photo to see what they watch over and how to pray to them.

First Floor

Baosheng Dadi · Black Tiger Lord

Also on this floor: the blessing card wall, the self-checkout area and the blessing items area.

Baosheng Dadi

Main deity · God of medicine

A god of medicine who was a physician in life. Our Baosheng Dadi holds a cat in his left arm and rests his right hand on a dog. His incense lineage comes from Ciji Temple in Xuejia, Tainan.

Black Tiger Lord

Beneath the altar

He sits beneath the altar, warding off misfortune and keeping pets safe wherever they go. Before a trip, a move or a change of surroundings, let the Tiger Lord watch over your pet.

Second Floor

Guanyin · Samantabhadra · Manjushri

Guanyin is in the centre, with Samantabhadra and Manjushri on either side. Here, people also call Guanyin the “Guanyin of Calm”.

Guanyin

The Guanyin of Calm

When your pet is anxious, sleeping badly or new to your home, ask Guanyin for calm.

Samantabhadra

Beside Guanyin

Said to represent practice: turning good wishes into action. Birthday: 21st day of the 2nd lunar month.

Manjushri

Beside Guanyin

Said to represent wisdom. Birthday: 4th day of the 4th lunar month.

Third Floor

Medicine Buddha · Sunlight & Moonlight Bodhisattvas · Ksitigarbha · Hayagriva

Also on the third floor: the blessing lamp wall.

Medicine Buddha

Flanked by the Sunlight and Moonlight Bodhisattvas

The blue-green lapis glow behind him was designed by the founder together with the woodcarver. The Sunlight and Moonlight Bodhisattvas beside him are carved more simply, leaving the richest detail for the Medicine Buddha.

Ksitigarbha

Watching over pets who have passed

You can light a memorial lamp for your pet, wishing that they are free of pain, never lost, and doing well on the other side.

Sunlight and Moonlight Bodhisattvas

On either side of the Medicine Buddha

Said to light the day and the night, helping the Medicine Buddha watch over the sick.

Hayagriva

Protector of animals

Said to be one of the forms of Guanyin, long revered in Japan as a protector of animals.
